Crazy Love (Book and Video Study)Location: Main AuditoriumTeacher: Matt WrightCome out next week as we continue a new study on Francis Chan‘s popular book, “Crazy Love.” You are encouraged to purchase the book for $10 (at the Info Desk) and read along as we watch a video about each chapter and have a time for discussion.Kids Classes Location: Kids Hallway (kids)The kids classes took a break for July but are resuming this month. There are five different age-appropriate classes for kids (birth to 5th grade). The children’s Sunday School classes are taught by a number of highly qualified teachers under the supervision of Children’s Director Faith Dincler. While the adults are enjoying their classes, we want you to feel safe in knowing that your children are in capable hands. They will have the chance to grow in knowledge of God in a fun environment.

SHORT BIO: I was born in Cincinnati in 1981 to Tim & Terri Dincler. I lived there all through high school with my older sister, Kelly (a social worker), and older brother Kyle (an insurance agent). I went to school at Milligan College after high school and got my Bible/Ministry degree in 2003. There I met Faith my freshman year, began dating her a year later and married her before my senior year in 2002. Before coming to Cornerstone I was an Associate Minister at small church in Crown Point, IN where I lived for 3 years. On August 3rd, 2006 (at 6:10 pm) Faith delivered our awesome little boy, Luke, who is, seriously, the funniest little kid of all times. You have to meet him.CURRENTLY PLAYING ON MY IPHONE: Everything. I know this is a cop-out but I have 6500 songs on my iPod and I almost ALWAYS do shuffle. I recently zeroed in on The Derek Trucks Band – you HAVE to check them out (and Harry Connick Jr. & Bell Biv DeVoe – just kidding about the last one – but you seriously like “Poison”, don’t you?).TOP 3 MOVIES: This is VERY hard for me to do. 1) Braveheart, 2) The Lord Of The Rings trilogy (that counts as one, right?) 3) ANYTHING with Will Ferrell in it. There are at least 20 others I could put in my top 3.BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS: Seriously, a bowl of Special K with splenda (I mix 12% & Luke’s whole milk together and it’s perfect). PIT STOP/PLACE TO REFUEL: Home. Just being at home and doing nothing or playing with Luke. That’s my refuel.ETHNIC FOOD: Mediterranean – Greek or Eastern. RECENTLY READ: Resident Aliens (Hauerwas & Willimon) a MUST READ, Harry Potter (the last one), and Tad Williams’ Shadowplay. I kind of read all of them at the same time.LIVED IN: Cincy, OH; Clearwater, FL; Johnson City, TN; Crown Point, IN; Bloomingdale, ILCURRENTLY DRIVING: My ’06 Impala – I love that car.MEMORABLE MOMENT: When my son, Luke, was born. Seriously the most awesome thing I’ve EVER seen. Ever.FAVORITE VACATION SPOT: Colorado – any part of it with mountains. I plan on living there one day.MOST INTERESTING/UNIQUE JOB HELD: I was a cart boy at a golf course in high school & college and that was by far the best meaningless job I’ve ever had. My friends and I did so many funny things there. That’s the most dumb fun I’ve ever had while getting paid.CURRENTLY CHEERING/ROOTING FOR: The Bengals. I seriously bleed orange & black. I’m not kidding. I cut myself yesterday and some orange came out. I LOVE the Bengals (& the Reds too).

SHORT BIO: I was born in Ohio and then my family moved to West Frankfort, IL and finally to Ocala, FL. I grew up around the church with my father being in ministry for the last 30 years. My mom is a financial supervisor for the city of Ocala and my brother Josh and his wife Jill serve in ministry in Melbourne, FL. I attended Florida Christian College and graduated in 2004. It was about this time that I was ordained and entered ministry, serving a church in Belleview, FL before we moved to the Chicago suburbs. I worked to plant Cornerstone Christian Church in 2005. Soon after, my son, Caleb was born in 2006 and is now a very active 4 year old. Recently I finished a Master's degree in Historical and Systematic Theology at Wheaton Grad School.CURRENTLY PLAYING ON MY IPHONE: Kind of nerdy, but I love Podcasts (but I never listen to my own!) Mostly politics (Michael Medved Show and Wall Street Journal) and sermons (Mark Moore, Bob Russell, and several other churches). I also listen to audiobooks more than music.TOP 3 MOVIES: No question about it . . . . Star Wars, Star Wars, and Star Wars. But beyond the Star Wars series (yes, ALL of them), I also like the Lord of the Ring series and the Godfather movies.BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS: French toast and orange juice.PIT STOP/PLACE TO REFUEL: Reading. I definitely "recharge" by spending a few hours with a good book.ETHNIC FOOD: Greek food is my favorite, but Italian is a close second.RECENTLY READ: Recently I've spent a lot of time reading theology for grad school. Other books I've read recently include Edmund Morris's Colonel Roosevelt, American Caesars by Nigel Hamilton, The Upside of Irrationality by Dan Ariely, Crazy Love by Francis Chan, Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game, and many others.LIVED IN: Growing up in a ministry family, I've lived in three states. First, I was born in Mansfield, OH then we went to West Frankfort, IL and finally my family settled in Ocala, FL. I have lived in six different places in the last 10 years. I am happ to have established some stability by buying a house in Hanover Park, IL.CURRENTLY DRIVING: A 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe that doesn't get nearly good enough gas mileage . . . and it isn't so great in the snow!MEMORABLE MOMENT: Of the memorable moments I've experienced, the birth of my son stands above the rest. It was incredible and the kind of thing that changes you forever.FAVORITE VACATION SPOT: Caribbean. My family and I love going on vacations in Florida or the Caribbean each year.MOST INTERESTING/UNIQUE JOB HELD: I've had a lot of different jobs, but the most interesting would have to be when I owned and operated my own karate school. I spent a total of about 10 years in martial arts training and after receiving my black belt I took over the school from my instructor. It was a great success and a wonderful experience.CURRENTLY CHEERING/ROOTING FOR: I am a HUGE Steelers fan. I've been a fan my whole life and my family calls it "obsessive" (I just call it "committed").

HISTORYCornerstone is a new church, dedicated to the simple idea of living as followers of Jesus. We began our story in 2005 when an older church (First Christian Church of Glen Ellyn) gave their building and assets to a church-planting group (Ignite Church Planting). You can learn more about
Ignite here.A new church was born with much excitement in the Chicago suburbs. Since our launch we have continued to grow and learn as we have focused on our singular purpose to connect. We exist to connect to God, connect with others, and connect through service. Our story is all about living out these three “connects” as Christ-followers.We believe we are serving God and our community and ask you to join us in the effort. Our story is still being written and so is yours. Help write the next chapter at Cornerstone. Please contact us at any time by using the links on the top and bottom of every page. We look forward to getting to know you.

WELCOME Cornerstone Christian ChurchCornerstone Christian Church is a new, non-denominational church where you can come as you are. We are a group of imperfect people with a passion for living out God's wisdom in our lives and community. Located in the Chicagoland suburb of Glen Ellyn, we were started several years ago with a purpose. As a church, we don’t want to sell you anything; instead, you are invited to join us on a life-changing mission to change the world for Jesus. It is not always easy, but it is a worthwhile mission and we invite you to join in what we are doing. As a new and growing church, we look forward to what God is doing with our congregation.

BeliefsGod - There is one God; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Creator and Lord of all things. (Genesis 1:1-2, John 1:1, Matthew 3:16-17)Jesus - Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God, who died for our sins and arose from the dead. (1 Corinthians 15:1-8 & John 3:16)Bible - The Bible is the true and inspired Word of God. It is our guide as it tells God’s story with humanity. (2 Timothy 3:16 & Psalm 119:105)Man - Every person has worth as a creation of God. Humanity willfully rebelled against God and all have sinned and fall short of God’s standard. (Romans 3:23, Romans 5:12-15)Eternal Life - Forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life are available to those who trust Christ as Savior and Lord. (John 3:16, Romans 6:22-23)Salvation - Those accepting Christ should repent of sin, confess their faith, and be baptized into Him. (Colossians 2:6, Romans 10:9, Acts 2:38)Church - The Church began on the day of Pentecost as the body of Christ on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit and exists to show the way back to God (Ephesians 4:1-16, Acts 2:41-42)Future - Jesus Christ will one day return to earth and reign forever as King of kings and Lord of lords. Until that happens, our job is to make the future a reality as we bring heaven to earth. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, 1 Timothy 6:13-16, 2 Cor 4:14)

PURPOSECornerstone Christian Church is committed to being connected. The first thing you should know about us is that we firmly believe in the need to be connected to God, with others, through service. Connect with God - The first and most important aspect of being a Christ-follower is the need to connect with God. Learning His will and walking with Him is the starting point for genuine spiritual growth. This connection with God is expressed in our weekly worship services. We have made a concerted effort to create a worshipful and quality time to connect with God.Connect with Others - The next step is to not only love God, but love His creation as well. We strive to connect with each other as Christ-followers, and most importantly to connect with the “least of these” (described in Mat. 25). Connecting with each other is not always easy, but the model given for growth in God’s Word is clearly one based upon community. Connect through Service - The last part of connection is to put faith into action in acts of service. Loving God and others is not complete until we do something about it. At Cornerstone, we are expending our service possibilities and finding new ways to move people to making more of a difference.
